Our Mission
The Friends of Modern Architecture/Lincoln (FoMA) works to promote greater recognition of Modernism’s contribution to the architectural, historical, and cultural history of Lincoln, the region, and the nation; and to preserve examples of the Town’s exceptional Modern legacy to remind future generations of Modernism’s design and social ideals.
History of Lincoln
Established in 1654 within Concord, Lincoln evolved into an autonomous town by 1754, spurred by local petitions. Chambers Russell's choice of its name, honoring his English estate, underscored its historical significance. Lincoln, distinctively named after Lincolnshire, England, not revolutionary figures, witnessed pivotal moments like Paul Revere's capture and the Battle of Lexington and Concord, shaping early American history.
